Do I need a Residence permit?

The normal Tourist Visum allows you to stay in Turkey for no longer then 90 days for every 180 days. This means that if you would like to stay longer then yes, you do need to apply for a Turkish residence permit rather then leaving the country for 1 day and get your pasport re-stamped. Thanks to the quite advanced Resident permit system it became a lot easier to obtain one. Also having a residency permit allows you to open bank accounts easier and buy and use a car in Turkey. Also the foreigner number on the card will make living in Turkey easier, the following services will be easier to obtain:

• Internet for your home

• Turkish number with contract

• Healthcare records

• all work connected to the government.
