As part of the nation's national policy to advance technology and energy projects, Türkiye's most recent drilling ship is anticipated to soon begin its first exercise in the Eastern Mediterranean sea.
Arrival at Tasucu
The Tasucu Port in the southern province of Mersin is the final stop for Turkey's fourth drilling ship.
The ship, which departed from South Korea's Okpo Port on March 7 and arrived on Thursday, will remain in the port for roughly two months as it gets ready for its first drilling exercise in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea.
The new ship is a deep-water drill ship of the seventh generation, one level above the three other ships in the nation's fleet, Fatih, Kanuni, and Yavuz.
The fleet expansion is a component of the national strategy to advance technology and employ regional machinery for energy projects.
The ship will soon begin drilling operations.
The latest drilling ship from Turkey has a tower height of 104 meters.
The 238-metre-long and 42-metre-wide ship, which is outfitted with seventh-generation advanced technology and a crew of 200, is expected to begin drilling operations in the Eastern Mediterranean soon.
The ship is also equipped with an active positioning system and can drill to depths of 12,200 meters.
The ship's current name is "Cobalt Explorer," but it will be changed.
